SMG, the leader in privately managed public assembly facilities, has an excellent and immediate opening for a Telecommunication Technician at the Osceola Heritage Park, Kissimmee FL facility.

This position is responsible for the installation, maintenance and repairs of facility and client utility communication systems, including telephone systems, computer/data systems (internet), radio and television broadcasts, by performing the following duties:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
-Coordinate telephone system provider's services outside the facility with in-house requirements;
-Maintains applicable code requirements that apply to cable insulation, ceiling plenum routing and support, wall penetration and fire rating when conduit raceways are necessary;
-Solve routine and extraordinary field technical problems;
-Operate communications related computer systems for administrative and functional purposes;
-Correctly uses and applies test equipment to verify problems exterior to the facility systems;
-Works from blueprints and develops sketches when necessary;
-Reads, understands and communicates client floor plan layouts;
-Maintains inventory of all telecommunications and internet equipment. Reports inventory status to Director of Operations;
-Provides internet connections as necessary;
-Recommend cost effective and cost efficient means of operations of telecommunications infrastructure;
-Coordinates work with all operations sections; interfaces effectively with all users, providers and peers;
-Maintains a safe working environment;
-Attends to and conforms to the policies established by SMG in the successful performance of this position.
-Other duties may be assigned;


Qualifications:
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
-High school diploma or GED required;
-3 to 5 years experience as a telephone technician on a major telecommunications system(s);
-Experience with industry standard cabling, wire grouping, color codes, termination, frames, numbering and routing/dressing arrangement;
-Familiarity with telephone and telecommunication systems used in the facility, including, but not limited to, multi-line phone systems, local area networks and modems;

SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
-Professional presentation, appearance and work ethic;
-Good written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills are required; including interaction with all levels of staff including management;
-Organizational and multi-task skills is essential;
-Strong customer service skills;
-Ability to work irregular / extended hours, including nights and weekends is a MUST;
-Ability to reconfigure computer IP addresses and configure for addition to Novell Network System;

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the job.
-Heavy lifting, climbing, carrying, stooping, crawling and equipment operation;
-Working indoors and outdoors and is subject to adverse conditions.
